Student Portfolio

Had I known earlier that teaching was both very creative and rewarding, I would have had a much different career path. That said, as a professor of design, I'm glad to have come to teaching later in my career, bringing a rich and varied business background to the profession. The ability to teach from real world experience, and not just theory, benefits my students and allows me to pass that experience to a next generation of designers.
I bring considerable industry experience to the classroom and the ability to work with a diverse student population. My philosophy as an instructor is the classroom is always a safe place to experiment. It is important to succeed and fail, for success and failure are essential for growth as a designer.
I’ve applied my creative skills designing curriculum and inventing new educational products. My latest product, Rocket Powered Curriculum, is a new method for making inexpensive flying model rockets using a PC/Mac and an ink jet printer, printing on thick paper stock. It is an affordable ideal science-based curriculum for students grades 4 through 5 all the way to college.
